Welcome to Scottsdale in the Summer. Be prepared and you'll have a hot time in the city. You'll actually be surprised at how cool you can feel on the outside terraces that abound with their misters turned on. Or in the shops, restaurants and museums. The Art Galleries are also cool places. And of course, all the beautiful wonderful pools at all the hotels and resorts. Or you might want to hang out at the the Ice Den - where the Coyotes (hockey players) practice. Get cooled off and get an autograph at the same time. Visit the Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch and just wander around all the pools. Very scenic.

Hat - Sunglasses, definitely. A cold cloth for your neck during physical activity such as hiking, climbing, and golf.

Do any outside activity early in the day! (you knew there was a reason why we don't have daylight saving time) You might want to invest in a portable fan with a battery powered mister (great on the golf course).

Park in the shade - if you can. Most of these spots will be taken by locals, otherwise use a sunshade for your windshield. Cover the steering wheel with a towel (I guess you could borrow one from the hotel). Or promptly learn to drive with two fingers. Oh! and don't wear shorts if the car has leather seats or borrow another towel for the seat!
If you'll just follow our friendly advice you'll love Scottsdale in the Summer and by time you leave you'll be able to say "It was 115° today - but not too bad" without fainting!
